About
It all began with a place.
Pitangui is the name of the river that ran behind the place where I grew up. The name is commonly understood as “red river” in Tupi-Guarani, referring to pitanga, the bright red fruit, and y, meaning water or river.
Pitanga is also the name of the fruit that became part of my childhood — bright red, a little wild, growing in my grandmother’s backyard.
There was a pitanga tree there that I used to climb, turning its branches into a jungle of my own.
I would play, imagine, get lost and make up stories simply because I could.
Pitangui Studio comes from that feeling.
From childhood, before everything had to have a purpose. From being curious simply because something caught your eye. From making things with your hands, spending time outside, noticing what is around you, and letting an afternoon become whatever it wants to be.
From the freedom to make something just because you feel like it.
